Flourishing Together: A Creative Start to Community Building

In the Lower School at our Historic Downtown Campus, we began the year by exploring our school theme, Creators of Community, through a meaningful and creative collaborative activity. During our opening assembly, students learned about symbiotic relationships in nature, like the mutualism between crocodiles and plover birds or bees and flowers. Each grade took a deep dive into one of these relationships, learning how different species support one another to thrive.  Inspired by the quote, “All flourishing is mutual,” students reflected on how these natural partnerships mirror the ways we can build a caring, interconnected community.

To bring their learning to life, students illustrated their assigned symbiotic relationships, creating vibrant and thoughtful artwork that celebrates collaboration and support. These beautiful masterpieces now brighten the Lower School entrance, reminding everyone who enters that we flourish best when we work together. Families are encouraged to stop by and admire this stunning display—it’s a wonderful testament to our shared commitment to building a community where everyone thrives.
