In small groups, students took on a scene from the play, cutting it down to its most essential lines, assigning parts, memorizing dialogue, and organizing costumes and props. While they had been performing scenes throughout the unit, this task challenged them to embody the Renaissance spirit, donning period costumes and mastering Shakespeare’s language.
From kindergarteners to eighth graders, students of all ages had the chance to witness Shakespeare’s world come to life, seeing the humor and magic of A Midsummer Night’s Dream unfold through their peers’ performances.
