SWAIN CAMPUS PS-Grade 8 / HISTORIC DOWNTOWN CAMPUS PS-Grade 8 / MERLE-SMITH CAMPUS Grades 9-12
In inspiring spaces resounding with our nation’s history, Historic Downtown Campus students build academic prowess and personal character simultaneously. Our students are challenged by transformative, engaging signature programs, like Spanish Immersion and Suzuki Strings, as they are embraced by the warmth of our community and our Moravian traditions. Your child emerges as an ethical, proactive, and thoughtful learner and leader, thoroughly prepared for our Upper School.

Challenging and engaging

The Historic Downtown Campus program develops essential skills for global citizenship and independent inquiry.

SIGNATURE PROGRAMS AND EXPERIENCES

Our transformative Spanish Immersion Program instills stronger divergent thinking skills, helps with pattern recognition, and builds greater problem-solving capacities— in addition to teaching students to confidently navigate conversations when speaking in a second language.
Independent learning opportunities throughout Lower and Middle School, including Student Centered Original Research Experience (SCORE), encourage your child to pursue their passions while building advanced research skills.
Our extraordinary Suzuki Strings Program introduces children to the joy of performance, encourages early discipline and dedication to skill-building, and instills confidence in even the youngest performers.

AN ENRICHING, ENVELOPING TRADITION

The Historic Downtown Campus holds weekly Chapel services in a building where George Washington, Ben Franklin, John Adams, and others once worshipped. Together, we pray, sing, reflect, and celebrate. We also explore a wide range of religious and cultural traditions, helping your child become an adept, insightful, and ethical world citizen.
Through programs written, performed, and produced by Lower and Middle School students, the Moravian Academy Broadcasting Company (MABC) covers all aspects of life and learning at MA. MABC celebrates Historic Downtown students' many accomplishments while instilling important public speaking skills.

“The Historic Downtown Campus environment is something you can’t find anywhere else. The children feel like they’re part of history, and part of a community that’s bigger than themselves. The experiences they have here help make them citizens, rather than just students.”
