Historic Downtown Campus Lower School

EXTRAORDINARY LEARNING EXPERIENCES FOR STUDENTS IN GRADES 1-5
When you visit our Historic Downtown Campus, you’ll immediately feel the vibrant learning activity that’s constantly underway at all grade levels: First graders presenting short stories at an Author’s Tea or third graders tending a bush bean garden—then donating their crop to a local food pantry. Fourth graders teaching their peers about the Leaders and Legends of American History. And the whole school community united in engagement with music, theater, and performing arts for which we’ve long been known.
LOWER SCHOOLERS IN ACTION
Students in the Lower School write, perform, and produce regular news programs for the Moravian Academy Broadcasting Company. Students lead all aspects of the programs and use MABC as a vehicle to share the independent research and passion projects of fellow students. Tune in and you might see second graders sharing nonfiction pieces about their favorite animals or fifth-grade students interviewing residents of the local assisted living facility where they volunteer.
Students can experience the joy of performance with our exceptional Suzuki Strings Program. Designed as a musical string initiative, it cultivates early discipline, skill-building dedication, and confidence in even the youngest performers.
