MAX: Fall 2024

This fall, Moravian Academy is excited to offer a diverse range of after-school programs across both the Swain and Historic Downtown campuses, beginning the week of September 16, 2024. Students can dive into arts and crafts, sports, academic enrichment, performing arts, language immersion, creative exploration, and more! With programs available for preschool through middle school, most sessions will run from 3:15 to 4:15 PM. Please note that special details apply to courses starting after September 16, extending beyond October 25, or running longer than one hour after school. Be sure to review the specifics for each offering!

MONDAYS
Knight School Chess
The Knight School is the chess program for the well-rounded kids of America who are good at multiple things! Kids are central to everything we do, and everything is oriented toward them. Your child needs to deeply understand they are truly smart, and our aim is to complete the perfect childhood by instilling that confidence in each and every child. Students gain access to our online weekly tournaments, earn up to 26 varieties of TaticxBands, and learn to become great sports with competitive manners while also becoming great chess players.

Beaded Jewelry Creations: From Basics to Brilliance
Unlock your creativity and dive into the art of beaded jewelry with thie Beaded Jewelry Creations course. Designed for learners of all skill levels, this class offers a journey from the fundamentals of beading to more advanced design techniques, allow you to craft stunning, personalized jewelry pieces.

Nothing reminds us of fall like the touch, feel, smell, and sight of pumpkins! Pumpkins are a great medium for teaching in the fall. On our pumpkin adventures, we will explore many activities.

Elementary Soccer
This fun-filled program emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Students will engage in enjoyable games, friendly matches, and minni-tournaments, all while making new friends and building confidence. Perfect for beginners and experienced players alike, it's a great way to have fun and stay active.

FRIDAYS
Storytime & Crafts
Students will create crafts and play games inspired by the story of the day! Participating in crafting activities helps children develop fine motor skills, stimulate imaginative play, and boost literacy skills. Themed games will encourage sharing, collaboration, and teamwork among peers. Students will have an excellent opportunity to weave creativity and imagination into their learning experience derived from reading books!

Tap Dance

Students will learn the basic fundamental steps of dance in a fun and creative way. Everyone will be encouraged to work at their own pace as they learn to make music with their feet! Please bring tap shoes or a hard soled shoe that stay securely on your feet.

Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Club
Want to embark on a fantastical journey? Our Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Club is for students who are eager to dive into the world of role-playing games. This after-school group invites you to explore imagination, creativity, and teamwork. Each week will feature a mix of storytelling, problem-solving, and collaborative play, allowing you to develop your role-playing skills while making new friends and having tons of fun. Whether you're a seasoned adventurer or new to the world of D&D, this club offers a supportive and engaging environment where you can learn the basics, improve your game strategies, and unleash your imagination.

Expressive Explorers
Students will engage in a creative writing course in a relaxed environment that allows students to practice producing poetry, fiction, playwriting or nonfiction writing. Bring your friends and join us to also explore how writing and “drawing your day” can be a powerful way to understand and share your feelings. Discover the therapeutic benefits of creative expression while having fun!

Our Set and Prop Design program lets students explore creativity by building props and sets for school performances. Through hands-on projects, they learn design basics while fostering teamwork and imagination.

Afternoon Spanish Immersion
This 12-week program will immerse students in a Spanish-only environment through engaging and authentic activities designed to promote language acquisition. Students will play games, learn songs, design and build craft-making objects and more, all while building their Spanish-language skills.

Magic School Bus
Come join Mr. Pomeroy and Miss Frizzle for some exciting science adventures on The Magic School Bus! Students will enjoy one episode of this classic science video series each week and then do a related experiment or project in the science lab. Elementary Yoga
Come join Teachers from The Yoga Loft of Bethlehem, as we STEAM our way through after school sessions. Join our experienced faculty as we explore the many ways we can get creative with our postures, our breath, and learn some tools for calming, energizing and focusing all, while making it fun - using STEAM -based games, art, music and more to make this an unforgettable after school experience.

Little Geniuses - PreSchool Chess
Little Geniuses, offered to preschoolers, is a singing, laughing, dancing, chess clock-slapping, zany chess video, puppet show introduction to chess. Little Geniuses puts on a high-energy 45-minute chess practice in which kids play chess for Mardi Gras beads, compete for one of dozens of brightly-colored silicone wristbands, and look forward to our 22 daily activities

Yearbook Club
Let's make some memories! Join the Yearbook Club and make this year's HDC yearbook. You will learn how to take an idea, develop it, market it, make it, publish it, and distribute it. This is a rare opportunity to learn new skills to go through the entire process of creating a product and selling it. Mr. Pomeroy would love your help and ideas to make this yearbook the best ever!

MA Perfect
In the spirit of the YouTube sensation, “Dude Perfect” series, Moravian Academy is excited to offer an opportunity for students to showcase their amazing talents and trick shots. This program is student driven and will reveal how much time, effort, and sometimes luck it takes to pull off seemingly impossible feats. Brainstorming, planning, implementing, refining, and video production will be utilized to make our own “MA Perfect” video. If the students meet with success, we will have an amazing experience to share. If met with failure, we will likely have quite a blooper reel. Join me to make the impossible possible!
