Who can attend MAX Summer Camps?
For the first time, MAX Summer Camps are open to all families, regardless of affiliation with Moravian Academy. Families who register within the first two months of enrollment will automatically receive a 10% Early Bird Discount for most summer camps. Please note that MAX Signature Camps, exclusive joint ventures with select Lehigh Valley and national institutions, are not eligible for this discount.

When do the MAX | Summer programs take place?
The MAX | Summer programs begin on Monday, June 9, 2025, and runs for 10 weeks, ending on Friday, August 15, 2025.

What types of activities are offered?
Families can choose from a wide range of camp themes, including sports, crafts, career exploration, dance, music, STEM, and pure play for younger students. There’s something for every child to enjoy!

Who teaches the camps?
MAX camps are led by Moravian Academy faculty, educators from our MAX Signature partners (such as the Da Vinci Science Center and St. Luke’s University Hospital), and experienced external instructors. All instructors are certified to work with minors in Pennsylvania.

Where are the camps held?
MAX Camps are offered at the Swain Campus (Allentown) and Merle-Smith Campus (Bethlehem) of Moravian Academy. Specific locations are listed with each camp description.

What are the daily hours of the camps?
Most camps run from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. While we do not offer before or aftercare during the summer, certain camps may have extended hours. Please review individual camp descriptions for specific times.

What is the cost of the camps?
  • MAX | Summer Camps (led by Moravian faculty): $395 per week.
  • MAX | Signature Camps: $450–$495 per week.
  • Dance Camps: Priced at $75 per session, or $225 per week (half-day programs).
How do I register my child for MAX Summer Camps?
Registration is available online. Depending on the program, families may need to complete additional steps, such as interviews or deposits, before finalizing enrollment. Instructions are provided during the registration process.

What is the student-to-instructor ratio?
Most camps maintain a 1:10 to 1:15 ratio, ensuring personalized attention. Larger camps, such as dance and music programs, may include up to 40 students but will have multiple instructors to divide students into smaller instructional groups.

What should my child bring to camp?
Camp counselors will provide a detailed list of required items before the camp begins, including drop-off/pick-up instructions. For camps involving swimming, children should bring appropriate swimwear and towels. All swimmers must pass a swim test administered by our certified lifeguards to participate in daily swimming activities.

Is lunch or snack provided?
Families should pack lunches and snacks for their children, as meals are not provided during camps.

Can my child attend more than one camp?
Yes! Families are welcome to enroll children in multiple camps across different weeks or themes.

What is the cancellation or refund policy?
Refund requests can be directed to the MAX program director at camp-info@moravianacademy.org. Refunds are typically offered for reasonable requests, subject to review.

How does MAX Summer Camps handle safety and security?
Moravian Academy provides on-campus security during all summer camps. MAX Signature Camps held at partner institutions also maintain strict safety protocols, including daily supervision by trained staff.

Are camps open to non-Moravian Academy students?
Yes, MAX Summer Camps are open to all children, regardless of enrollment at Moravian Academy.

What happens in case of bad weather?
Outdoor camps have reserved indoor spaces to ensure programming continues during inclement weather.

Will my child be grouped with others of the same age?
Yes, children are grouped by age and grade to ensure an engaging and developmentally appropriate experience.

Are there programs for children with special needs?
Yes, we are offering two specialized learning support programs this summer:
  1. Summer Learning Intensive (Swain Campus): A 4-week program for K-8 students, led by Melissa LaRusso and her team.
  2. Learning Enhancement Program (Merle-Smith Campus): A 6-week program focusing on reading and math skills, led by Morgan Nordmeyer and her team.
Both programs maintain a 1:4 student-to-teacher ratio and require an interview and testing for admission.
Is financial aid available for summer camps?
Financial aid is not available for MAX Summer programs. However, if you are interested in one of our two learning support programs, we offer monthly payment plans for families who wish to enroll in either the “Summer Learning Intensive” on the Swain Campus, or the “Summer Surge Reading and Math Program” on the Merle-Smith Campus. To arrange a payment plan, you must first register and place a down-payment for either program. Once we contact you for testing and evaluation of your child, please raise the subject of a payment plan with the program administrator and we will work with you to determine your eligibility for a financial plan.

How do you handle emergencies or health concerns?
Certified nurses are available on all campuses during camp hours, along with trained lifeguards and administrators certified in first aid. Partner institutions hosting MAX Signature Camps follow their own safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all participants.

Is there a minimum number of campers required for a class, and what happens if it isn’t met?
All MAX Summer programs are subject to minimum and maximum enrollments that determine whether or not they will run. We will do our best to inform families of camps that fail to meet minimum enrollments at least two weeks prior to their start dates. Full refunds will be granted for camps that are cancelled.
