“Where Hope Is Found”
When all seems lost, where can we find the light? That is the journey this program offers its audience. Set to a rich array of classic and contemporary choral pieces and performed by over 160 singers and 16 instrumentalists, we will follow the journey of a young person experiencing love, grief, joy, resilience, fear, and most of all, hope.
For this concert, we are thrilled to be performing with the extraordinary Mosaic Youth Chorus, led by Dr. Joy Hirokawa, a decades-long champion for young people in the choral world. This unique concert experience will also offer opportunities for audience members to connect with community partners that support youth and mental health.
The program will feature seasonally focused secular and spiritual pieces in English, Spanish, Hebrew, Latin and Swahili. Audiences will be delighted by familiar favorites, such as Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas” and Hugo Blanco’s “Mi Burrito Sabanero,” moved by stunning works like Blake Morgan’s “Caledonia” and Kyle Pederson’s “Does The World Say,” and roused by stirring pieces like Jeffrey Ames’s “Gloria Fanfare” and gospel legend Mervyn Warren’s “Hallelujah!,” a Grammy award-winning reinterpretation of the Handel classic. There will also be an audience sing-along of Zanaida Robles’ “Umoja,” which celebrates unity, the first principle of Kwanzaa. Our concert will close with the premiere of Nicholas Sienkiewicz’s “Where Hope Is Found,” an affirmation that hope is not simply discovered but created, by all of us. This piece is dedicated to the memory of two beloved individuals who are gone too soon, including a young member of the Lehigh Valley Chorale who we tragically lost in June 2024.
Price range: $0 - $50. The Lehigh Valley Chorale makes free tickets available for those in need, as part of our commitment to open access for all.
