Upper School Students Compete in the Tournament for Women

Maggie Champagne
Upper school students Charlene Liu '26 and Elena Koprowski '26 recently participated in the fourth edition of the Tournament for Women (T4W), an online quizbowl competition designed to create a fun, inclusive, and supportive space for female-identifying high school students. The duo competed in three rounds, securing an impressive victory in one match with nearly a 400-point lead. More than just a competition, the tournament fostered camaraderie and connection, allowing participants to engage in spirited gameplay while celebrating their shared love of trivia.

For Elena, this was her first-ever quizbowl tournament, and she was thrilled to take part. “EEven with the tournament taking place in a virtual environment, there was something to be said about the comfort of sisterhood in that space.” she shared. My favorite part was laughing through my mistakes with Charlene and groaning overdramatically when I realized that I knew the answers to my opponent's "toss-up".” Charlene, a seasoned quizbowl player, appreciated the unique environment. “It was refreshing to do a tournament with only female participants. Though we only won one game, I am proud of how many points we scored. Also, I enjoyed doing the tournament with one of my best friends!”

Experiences like these reflect Moravian Academy’s commitment to fostering confidence, curiosity, and lifelong learning. Congratulations to Elena and Charlene for representing Moravian Academy with enthusiasm and determination in this special tournament!
