Exploring Montréal & Québec: A Journey of Language, Culture, and Discovery
Emily Quinn
Over spring break, twenty-six 7th and 8th grade students from our Historic Downtown Campus embarked on an unforgettable journey to Montréal and Québec City, immersing themselves in Québecois life and culture. From savoring local delicacies to exploring historic landmarks, the trip was a vibrant blend of education, adventure, and hands-on learning.
Students indulged in the rich flavors of the region, enjoying maple syrup at Érablière du Cap, a family-owned sugar shack, tasting iconic poutine and beaver tails, and sampling other Québecois specialties. Their travels took them to the breathtaking Montmorency Falls, where they marveled at nature’s power, and into the spotlight during a dynamic theater workshop. They were captivated by the stunning evening light show at Montréal’s Notre-Dame Basilica and stepped back in time to experience life as a British soldier in the 1800s.
Embracing the winter landscape, students trekked through snowy woods on snowshoes, enjoyed an authentic Montréal bagel, and wandered the charming streets of Old Québec. They connected with locals, putting their French-speaking skills into practice and deepening their appreciation for the region’s rich history and culture.
Many thanks to chaperones Mrs. Emily Quinn, Mr. Matt Keretz, Mr. Nick Lucas, and Mrs. Andriana Turcotte, whose guidance and enthusiasm helped make this another successful spring break trip.
