Upper School Students Lead Hands-On Sustainability Lessons at Historic Downtown Campus

Katherine Burd
On Thursday, our Merle-Smith Campus Green Team students visited the Historic Downtown Campus 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to share interactive activities and presentations on sustainability.

Topics covered included water pollution, vermiculture, geothermal energy, waste management, and cricket protein. Lower School students engaged in hands-on learning by playing games about water pollution, making pinwheels to explore turbine energy, handling red wiggler worms, engineering structures from repurposed materials, and even sampling cookies made with ground-up crickets!

The experience was both fun and meaningful, as older and younger students connected over their shared passion for protecting the environment and their future.
