Teen Theatre Group from the Autism Society of the Lehigh Valley Visits Upper School Curious Cast
Catherine Moore
Rehearsals are underway for the Upper School's production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime. Based on Mark Haddon's 2005 novel of the same name, Curious Incident... is about a neurodivergent fifteen-year-old boy, Christopher Boone, who uncovers a very curious happening in his neighborhood-- the murder of Wellington, his neighbor's dog. As Christopher sets out to identify the true culprit, he makes an earth-shattering discovery which takes him on a journey that will change his life forever.
The Upper School Theatre Department invited the Teen Theatre Group from the Autism Society of the Lehigh Valley (ASLV) to visit a rehearsal and discuss the play. ASLV empowers individuals in the Autism community by fostering connections and providing vital resources to support their full potential. Through inclusive activities for all ages, creative programs, and support groups for parents, teens, and adults, ASLV addresses diverse needs with compassion and creativity. Collaborating with key local partners, ALSV strives to create a world where everyone has access to the support they need, when they need it.
After watching scene work from the play, the Curious cast and the ASLV Theatre group came up on stage to play theatre and improvisational games together. After our theater work, we all ate lunch together and had a great time hanging out.
We hope that the connections we made will continue with future creative collaborations!
