Celebrating Excellence: Historic Downtown Campus Middle School Awards 2024

We are thrilled to announce the 2024 Historic Downtown Campus Middle School awards recipients! These students have demonstrated exceptional talent, dedication, and perseverance in various fields, from performing arts and athletics to academics and citizenship. Join us in congratulating these outstanding individuals for their remarkable achievements.

The Performing Arts Excellence Award honors an eighth-grade student who exemplifies a commitment to music education. This year's recipient, Emma Cassady, has shown outstanding dedication by participating in multiple music ensembles and providing leadership within the performing groups. Emma's passion for music and her leadership skills have set a high standard for her peers.

The Golden Paintbrush Award is given annually to students who demonstrate academic rigor, quality of work, and superior crafting skills. This year, we are proud to recognize Audrey Zumba, Zoe Webster, and Oliver Lauden for their exceptional artistic achievements. Their creativity and dedication to their craft have significantly impacted our school's art community.

The Athlete of the Year Award celebrates eighth-grade student-athletes who have excelled in multiple sports, shown commitment to their teams, and developed as leaders. Apollo Fernandez and Belle Borsuk have demonstrated superior athletic ability, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude. Their dedication to their sports and academic achievements make them exemplary recipients of this award.

The Academic Excellence Award is given to eighth-grade students who have achieved a ninety-five percent average or above for each trimester in core courses. We are proud to recognize the following students for their outstanding academic performance:

The Heart of the Lion Award celebrates the journey of an eighth-grade student who has demonstrated remarkable growth and resilience. This year, we honor Makayla Maeding and Oliver Lauden for their determination, perseverance, and hard work in overcoming obstacles. Their stories of growth inspire us all.

The Faculty Award for Excellence in Scholarship & Leadership is presented to an eighth-grade student who exemplifies academic achievement and leadership. Emma Cassady has not only excelled academically but has also shown curiosity, a strong work ethic, and a genuine concern for her classmates and the community. Her balanced approach to scholarship and leadership makes her a deserving recipient of this award.

The Citizenship Award is given to students who exemplify qualities such as self-respect, dignity, concern for others, strong moral character, empathy, and self-awareness. Audrey Douglass and Ava Carrizo have shown exceptional involvement with the student body, school, and community. Their dedication to being decent human beings sets a positive example for all.
